How can we resell you a game that you have already played over a hundred times? I got it, we up the graphics and put it on the Xbox 360. Ok maybe I sound a bit cynical, but lets not deny the facts with how the industry loves to do that. Hey folk Brandon here to talk about Halo Anniversary. This game is the exact same game you've played before but with better graphics and achievements yay! Honestly unless you missed the original Halo on the Xbox I won't be saying anything really new to you. The game has a story that captured everyone's heart and spawned a series of games, books, and even TV shows. I got caught up in it as well, but when I go back in this HD re-release I think, why? Seriously the story is so simple and borrows from so much other fiction mainly Aliens; I am amazed why I ever got into the series like I did. I know the series at a whole is deep and rich I won't take that away but this game is boring for the first half of it. Not until they introduce the Flood does anything interesting in the story happen. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking and ranting about the game is about space marines that crash land on a mysterious ring, and are in the middle of a war with aliens known as the Covenant. You are the Master Chief the only guy in the game with functioning armor. He is a man of few words with a snarky AI in his head. The game has it twist one which I already spoiled but nothing that'll be a holy shit moment. It overall is only about a five hour campaign. The graphics is where these fine people at 343 studios truly up their game. You can literally compare the two with a press of a button. In doing that I know that there is nothing added to this game. The game varies its levels which is nice that you get to play on a ship, on a beach, in the plains, and in the snow. They get super lazy with one of the levels just being a level you've done before but essentially backwards. I was immensely disappointed in the fact that they toned down the blood. I used to paint the walls in the enemy blood, but no now it has less blue blood than a Smurfs game. Otherwise the graphics make the game look nice and it is cool to see how the game evolved in the way it looks. The gameplay however seems like a relic. It starts as a hallway shooter to just a meh shooter. The game has enough challenge to keep you going, but I always died making stupid mistakes not because the enemy is a crack shot. Besides two of the weapons the human weapons are all dick. I might as well be shooting a BB gun at the aliens when I use a human weapon the alien ones are the only ones that really do some work. The game did start the regen health, but in comparison to today it just sucks. They added the online which is cool if you like being called a newb while having a 12 year old teabag you over and over. The game just feels a bit dated in all aspects even to the more recent Halos. In all honesty the game isn't bad in the slightest it is just a 10 year old game with a new coat of paint. Unless you are big on some nostalgia then there is no reason for you to play this game again, because the love will be gone and frustration will ensue. I hate to sound like a guy who hates on Halo because I don't. I just don't care anymore, it has been 13 years since this game came out; maybe it's time to move on. I give this a 2.5/5, it is a good rental but unless you are a die hard fan of the series there is no reason to ever own this game. I can't wait for the Halo 2 Anniversary to come out so I can shit on that too. Till next time my fellow Halo gamers.
