Daredevil Vs Punisher, Batman Vs Superman, and before we get to the Civil War DC threw one more at us Justice League Vs Teen Titans. Hello everyone Brandon here to talk to you all about the new Blu-ray that came out this week Justice League Vs Teen Titans to continue 2016 being the year heroes kick the crap out of each other. This is the latest in DC animated line-up which I am personally a big fan of. I think DC’s animated movies are some of the best they have to offer. How does this film hold up? Of course I am going to tell you. The story is a continuation to the animated continuity we have been seeing. Last month we had Batman Bad Blood which this movie is a direct sequel to. You follow mainly the Teen Titans in this story as they battle a infected Justice League. Yet of course they aren’t infected by any virus but the evil Trigon. Okay this is a little weak if I do say so myself. Trigon is Ravens (from the Teen Titans) father and he is some demon dickhole who somehow can take over heroes. The fighting is alright at best there aren’t any intense scenes that happen. Trigon isn’t ever much of a threat they figure out how to beat him fairly quick, and speaking of quick the battle between Justice League and Teen Titans is also very quick. Honestly if they had an actual fight the Titans would get their asses handed to them. Sadly the characters we follow are what actually break this movie; which are Damian Wayne and Raven. Damian Wayne is such a little d-bag it annoys me that he is yet again the main focus. I really hate that the last few movies have centered on this little shit. Raven is actually less mopey then I’ve seen previously so that’s a plus. The story just didn’t enthrall me at all which is a must being that I found myself falling asleep in a action movie. That is never a good sign. The animation is similar to all the other DC movies which is good. I dig the way each character looks and even sounds. While Batman isn’t Kevin Conroy Jason O’Mara does a fine job. All the voice actors do even the kid who plays Damian Wayne is good his character just sucks. Sam Liu directed this and this guy knows DC animation. Now saying that this movie is probably being his third best film he has directed right behind All-Star Superman and Batman Year One. Regardless the guy is a veteran in the business. Overall the film wasn’t the best in the DC animated films. I liked it more than Bad Blood but less than a list of others that’d be too long to name. I think you all should check this out if you’re a fan of DC animation, but only for free. If it is on Netflix by all means check it out, or maybe a $1.00 Redbox should do it. I give it a 2.5/5. I hope that The Killing Joke is the next Under the Red Hood.

January and February are known as the dumping ground for movies. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is the exact definition of a movie that was just dumped. Hello internets Brandon here with a question. Why the hell was this movie ever made? Seriously who was asking for a movie that not only is misses on the campy fun film, but it isn’t even a gory grindhouse film? Now I will admit my review is going to be a moot point because no one was looking at this movie and thought it was going to be good. Yet I feel I need to say how bad this movie truly is; so without further ado… The movie is what if you take Pride and Prejudice, and decided to throw zombies in the mix. Honestly telling me this makes me feel like one would make a film so over the top, and so ridiculous that I would leave the theater going “What the fuck did I just watch? That was amazing!” This film had the potential to be like Ninja Assassin where it has a dumb plot but comes with over the top action. I guess I should mention the plot because seeing the Box Office I know many people didn’t see this movie. The plot is England has been infested with zombies, and the citizens have all trained in martial arts to combat these zombies. We follow two sisters that were trained to be badass, but spend literally 90% of the movie talking about who they will marry. Oh we also follow this zombie hunting soldier who’s acting as if he is English Blade or something like that. If you noticed I didn’t say any of the characters names you then you’d be correct because this movie is so hard to give a shit about the plot because it is fucking boring. Instead of the plot focusing on the ZOMBIE part of it they decide to focus on the Pride and Prejudice part. While I can make an argument the movie needed some of this pompous British long winded talking in it they needed to keep that at a bare minimum at best. The movie has a sub plot about the zombies starting to get organized. This is a crime that should be the MAIN plot not some sub plot. The actual main plot is who will the main character hook up with? Will it be British Blade or obvious villain, or my personal favorite her own cousin? I’ve been going on for some time about the plot, and I promise I’ll wrap it up I just have one last complaint and it is a doozy. They forget a big part of act three. So the climax is building up British Blade is fighting the main villain, and spoiler happens but they forget to resolve the conflict. The villains are never defeated the day is not won. They get a minor victory and we skip to a wedding to be like all is well. So either one of two things have happened. First they either completely forgot to finish the final conflict, or the second thing is they actually purposely left it out for a goddamn sequel they so desperately need. Regardless it is an incomplete film that misses the fucking point on why anyone would pay to see it. I will keep it quick with the cast. The main daughter we follow is played by actress who was Cinderella in the “hit” of 2015 Cinderella. She is a babe I’m not going to lie, but because she is so British I cannot tell if she is a good actor or not. This is for majority of the cast here they are so British that I honestly couldn’t tell if they were butchering the scenery or if they were saying something profound in uber English. British Blade is played by Sam Riley who is trying so hard to be “cool” he loses any badassness he would normally receive. Two Game of Thrones actors make an appearance which breaks my heart. Charles Dance, and Lena Headey are in this which I know they notoriously pick bad movie choices; which still puzzles me because they can really act when they want to. Real quick they fucked up with the writer and director of this film. Burr Steers who directed 17 Again, and Charlie St. Cloud. Those are the biggest movies he has done. This guy does not scream action, or horror director or writer to me. This explains so much why we get more romance in this movie than say you know uh ZOMBIES. In the end of it all…I can say is FUCK THIS MOVIE. I didn’t hate this walking out I was more confused honestly. Yet the more I think about it the angrier I get at the fact that this was even made, because there is no audience this could be made for. If it was a blood bath zombie movie, or funny campy comedy with zombies this would be a classic hit few people would’ve seen, but raved about. Instead this is a pile of shit with bits of corn sticking out. What does the corn represent? The corn is representing a good idea that was shat out. Do not rent this or see it at a dollar theater. Don’t even borrow this from a friend. Let this movie die, and be lost and forgotten. I give this a 0/5 FUCK THIS GODDAMN “MOVIE”. Much like Julius Caesar Hail, Caesar! looks good on the outside, but turns out to be an overall bad idea. Hello internets Brandon here to do my first movie review for the year of 2016. I’ve been keeping up seeing all the films to come out; just haven’t had the time to review them is all. Hail, Caesar! is the latest from Joel and Ethan Coen, and while it feels like one of their movies should it fails to capture the charm that The Big Lebowski or Fargo captured. The film for those who may have missed the trailer is about this 1950’s Hollywood fixer trying to find the main star who has been kidnapped during the filming of the studios big prestige picture. That right there sounds like… well a slightly different version of one of their other movies just in a different setting, and time period. *cough* The Big Lebowski. Unlike said picture this movie fails to capture any memorable moments or even the comedy that’d follow it. This movie is a situational/awkward comedy that is so subtle that I can see many average viewers missing it. If you try and explain a funny scene to someone who hasn’t seen the movie you just end up with that horrible this isn’t funny please stop talking stare. The films biggest issue with me is that every conflict solves itself with little to no action required of the main character. I take issue with that because it has no climax in the film. The character we follow doesn’t have to do a damn thing and the film could end the exact same way. The only thing good I can talk about is the cast they have in the movie. The cast is filled with these Oscar caliber actors that could sell a movie on their own. George Clooney is great in this. He is the kidnapped actor Baird Whitlock who is so naïve he just goes along with anything anyone tells him. Clooney captures the gullible actor perfectly and so much of the comedy is from his character alone. Josh Brolin is great in the movie and plays Eddie Mannix the Hollywood fixer. Brolin is fantastic with one part charm and two part business badass. The only issue is what I mentioned is how he doesn’t have anything to do with any of the conflicts being resolved. That takes this character and builds him up just to leave him hanging. Ralph Fiennes plays a director with few scenes but is hilarious in all of them. Newer actor Alden Ehrenreich not only is the least known, but also very weak and prominent in the story. He is basically a shitty actor who is the super nice naïve southern actor. Scarlet Johansson and Jonah Hill are in this as well as the biggest throw away characters I’ve seen in a while. They are so unnecessary to the film that their problem is solved in a phone conversation. It seemed like such filler, and don’t get me started on the retarded fucking role they have Channing Tatum in. Talk about a guy just their literally for a dance number, and a dumb “twist” at the end. Overall the Coen brothers have done so much better it makes me surprised that they actually messed up so badly on this film. This movie seemed to come out of nowhere and will probably get its ass kicked in the box office in the weeks to come. I understand most film lovers will want to see this movie, and I can even see some walking out and enjoying it. I can’t recommend this movie to many people from Coen fans to the average movie goer. It isn’t a bad movie, the damn thing just isn’t that good. When it comes to Redbox that is when you all should see this. Rent it for a dollar and have a blast at home. Definitely do not pay to see this in theater. I give this a 2.5/5. It makes me sad to even say that about some of my favorite writers and direct America Fuck Yeah war is not so glorious as we thought! Hello fellow film connoisseurs B-rod to talk about a movie that is either oscar worthy masterpiece or glorifying a man who killed people. (Yes I've seen some people make that argument). American Sniper is that movie and I personally loved it; well to a point. The plot of American Sniper for those who may be unaware is about real life soldier Chris Kyle. The man with two first names. (cue in dramatic music) He currently holds the record for the most confirmed kills as a sniper. When you see these deep and emotional trailers you might think this is a character piece about him during and after the war. I personally thought that most of the movie would be about him suffering from PTSD more than just his tours in Afghanistan. If you think that you are half right the movie is all about Chris's time overseas with a touch on how it affected his home life. While this movie truly captures the horrors of war, and how war is not like the latest Call of Duty game, it still feels a bit more like a action movie drama hybrid. There actually was a central antagonist that Chris is after the entire film. I am not to say that wasn't the case, but it seemed a bit Hollywood with the rival sniper he is chasing after. The movie has some very strong emotional parts that had me close to tears, and super gory parts that had me going "ohhhh shiittt", which is a nice mix in my book. The cast consist of very few if not only one really big name. That name is Bradley Cooper. Cooper captures this character and becomes him in every sense of the word. While you may disagree with the characters moral views, or completely agree the true honor of this character is how deeply and willingly able to sacrifice himself for them. Bradley Cooper is suave, badass, and emotional in his portrayal of Chris Kyle. The other cast did well, but ultimately overshadowed by how well Bradley Cooper was, also the fact the movie is about him and him alone the others get about a third of the screen time. The director is good ole Dirty Harry a.k.a Clint Eastwood. Clint known for directing Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino this goes right in his best of list. Clint made a movie that in a few years film teachers may use to demonstrate how to make a good and emotional character piece. The writer Jason Hall is pretty fresh meat to this screenwriting game. Sadly I do not recognize much of his work.(all two other movies) I honestly think that he wrote great dialog to help create a likeable character. From what I hear from those who have read the book he adapted this very close to the original work. Overall the movie is a gut punch in the fact that much like seeing Lone Survivor it takes a lot out of you to see more realistic war, and some of the horrors of the home life after four years of war. I do believe some people take away the wrong message from the movie thinking that it promotes war. It doesn't the ending is well proof to show war is hell just or unjust. I truly enjoyed this film and think it worthy of a nomination at the very least. I give this a 4/5. I leave with a question. Is it just me or are hardcore war films becoming a mid January kind of thing? This is two years in a row. Taken 3 is more like taken your money, am I right? Ok not good to start with a pun, but regardless I'm B-rod here to talk about Taken 3. So the most fun fact with this movie is the fact you don't have to see the previous two installments because it has nothing to do with any of them. I personally missed the second movie, and I must say they make one reference to it, and that reference was worthless. Without further ado let us dive into the movie series that started Liam Neeson's action film career. The plot to Taken 3 involves no one being kidnapped or taken as it were. Instead this storys very predictable plot is about Bryan Mills being framed for the murder of his ex-wife, and it is up to him to find out who actually killed his wife and protect his 20 something that looks like a mid thirty something daughter. One of the plots biggest sins is when he is framed. Bryan decides to fight the cops and run instead of getting cuffed and proving that he is innocent by the abundance of evidence that he is. When they reveal who is the evil doer it made me think, "asshole if they weren't chasing you throughout the state they would've figured this out days ago". The movie is more like a Bourne movie than a Taken film to be honest, and when I say "like a Bourne movie" I mean it is a poor imitation. The entire film Liam Neeson is kicking guys asses left and right, but never fights a person to his equal. That is a problem; how can we the audience get invested in a dude that is essentially the fucking Terminator. You can only see a dude kick ass for so long before you just stop caring. The movie is a predictable January movie with how everything is laid out, and has an ending that just pisses me off that I can't even talk about how shitty it is. The cast of consist of a few good actors we've seen in better movies. Liam Neeson is Bryan Mills a ex-CIA badass who's family is constantly in some sort of paril. Forest Whitaker is a detective who is hunting Bryan but knows he didn't do it in his heart. Basically he is the cop chasing the badass stereotype. Last is Maggie Grace who I personally don't like any of the roles I've seen her in, but she is his daughter who is supposed to be early 20s when she is actually early 30s I wouldn't normally say anything but this chick looks fucking old compared to an actual 20 year old. The director is Olivier Megaton who made Taken 2, and I feel like he just rehashed his shit over again. This guy is a foreign director not a action movie director and it shows. He made a movie that has the most basic action movie plot it was unreal. Somehow this movie has four writer credits, I will only talk about the top billed writer Luc Besson. This guy has written Taken, Lockout, and The Fifth Element, so he knows how to write action movies. I can't say what the fuck happened but either he phoned this in or it went through editing hell. Overall the movie is a flimsy plot with good ole jump cut fighting that gets old quick. I'll admit that because the sound was fucked in my theater that my experience was a bit lost, but the flaws I talked about are very real. While I had a screening to see this I can't recommend anyone to pay to see this movie. This is Hollywood shovelware if you are a fan of Taken (which I am) just re-watch that and be happy. I give this a 1/5. I leave with a question. Do you think that there will be a Taken 4? If yes will someone finally kick Liam's ass? Mr. Scott set a course for a movie to make Star Trek for a broad audience and not just for trekkies. Hello fellow movie people Brandon is here to talk about the Star Trek reboot. I'm not going to make any friends by saying this, but I've never watched the show. Not a day in my life but I dug the ever living shit out of this movie. Lets dig into this action packed sci-fi adventure. For those of you who may not know this movie is an alternate timeline. I understand if you never watched the show like me, that bit of info doesn't mean a damn thing and if you did watch it, well, you already knew so that was probably a waste of space. Anyways, the movie shows substantially the origins of the crew. While some are from birth or childhood like Kirk and Spock, others are just how they get to be on the Enterprise. The movie is about the most pissed off alien in the world who wants to destroy the Federation because of shit that happens in the future. It is up to the young and inexperienced Enterprise crew to take out these overpowered miners. Yeah they are miners with the firepower of a warship but we'll gloss over that. And if you love seeing Kirk get his ass kicked over and over, this is the movie for you. The story is exciting with twist and turns, and even some of those emotions moments. It is a movie to hook non-Star Trek fans into fans of at least these movies. The cast in my opinion is well done. Chris Pine is Captain Kirk, and he fits that role perfectly. I will say who would've guessed the crazy red neck from Smokin Aces would've been a great pick to play the captain of the Enterprise. Zachary Quinto is the pointy eared bastard Spock. Talk about acting; the guy takes all emotion out of his lines and yet still delivers them perfectly. I only know him from Heroes and I've never watched that so besides this role I've never seen him play anyone else. The antagonist or senior holds a grudge is Eric Bana who plays Nero. I will say this is the most I've seen Eric Bana emote and it is a nice change from say his usual quite badass role. I like Eric Bana, but I think I like pissed of bald Eric Bana more. My problem I had with his character is he hardly does anything that makes me want him to lose. Sure he kills thousands of people, but he just sits in a damn chair most of the movie. It is hard to hate a guy who sits on his ass the whole time. J.J. Abrams is the director of this fine film. When I see this and know he is directing the newest Star Wars I think that he can actually do it. If he can make Star Trek into a great story to those who normally wouldn't give a crap then Star Wars should be a breeze. I will say the same thing everyone else has said before though. CUT BACK ON THE LENSE FLARES. I feel like I should be wearing sunglasses through most of this film it is so damn bright. In the end this movie spawned a series that I can't get enough of. The sequel was even better than this one which is saying something. I personally can't wait to see where this reboot series goes in the future. I give this a solid 4/5. Until next time Trekkies uhh what ever Spock usually says when he leaves. BAWBWBBBB. Hell yeah folks Brandon here and I am here to review a movie known as Inception. Just a heads up this is a review within a dream, within a taco, within a Taco Bell. Inception. This movie is Christopher Nolan dipping his toe into sci-fi and it works beautifully. I was impressed on how interesting and original his idea was for this film. But before I start metaphorically sucking his dick lets just talk about the movie itself. The plot is something that I heard some people out there couldn't keep up with. I honestly don't know how if you pay attention to the movie it is fairly easy to follow along. This movie is about a group of dream thieves that must inplant a thought into a company owners head and make him have the idea of dissolving the company. In order to do this they must go into different levels of dream states which they explain but I won't get into. The main character Cobb is haunted by his past and his deceased wife constantly shows up in the dreams he is invading to fuck things up for them. The story is exciting without burdening you with too much information. That's how I don't get how anyone go lost in this movie everything people would ask like "how did they get in the hotel when they were in a van?" My first thought is to walk away because they need to see the movie again. This movie unlike some over pretentious films doesn't make up a bunch of random terms and then to never explain them. Now being that they are in a dream I never felt like they were in any real danger. They try to make it perilous but I'm like your rules say they might go into a coma, but they still won't die. I had me feeling like, "Oh no I get to sleep in, "so dangerous"". The story is exciting and it feels like Nolan wanted to keep this as a stand alone story with no sequel to speak of. The acting is done by some top notch actors. You have Leonardo DiCaprio who is Cobb. He is the harden badass dream warrior who is haunted by his dead wife. Now I personally didn't care too much about his character no matter how much they tried to flesh him out. But that was a script issue not his fault. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Cobb's right hand, Arthur. His character is for the most part exposition man. Most of his lines are explaining how everything in the dream world works. Last was Ellen Page as Ariadne. She is a young college architect that is a builder in the dream world. She is supposed to be the hub for the audience to see through being that this is all new to her. My one problem is they go over her training in this montage footage so only 10 minutes have passed and she is already a master dream architect. I understand they had to keep the story moving but it seemed rushed. Christopher Nolan directed and wrote this movie. He is a great director the visual effects and the shots in this movie are wonderful. He keeps the movie moving at a decent pace, even though some parts seemed rushed. My one problem with him was the writing. He didn't make me care about the characters; which I didn't need to be emotionally invested in any of them besides Cobb. But even with him fleshing out who Cobb was, and his motives, he doesn't write Cobb as a likeable guy as much as I wish he would've. Now I am just being nitpicky the movie is fantastic no one can deny that. Nolan created this universe where I was wishing I could go into my own dream. It is so damn interesting I do want to see more movies set in the Inception world, with a different plot. In the end the movie is a fantastic ride and a great thing to show young film buffs who might've not seen it. I love this movie, and even to this day if Nolan puts out a movie he has my money. I give this a 4.5/5. I'll be leaving you fine folks with a question, I wonder how many people use the device to revisit sex dreams? Apes; they will take over the world in due time but before they do, watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes because is just that, the Rise part. But I'm getting ahead of myself fellow freedom fighters, Brandon here to talk about the remake before the sequel to the remake comes out. That sounded confusing, well anyways lets talk about one of the greatest reimaginings that Hollywood has ever done. Besides the Thing. This movie is literally the beginning of the Apes becoming intelligent beings. You follow the first smart ape Caesar whose mom was apart of a science experiment to help cure alzheimer's and it made him very intelligent more than most high school kids today from what I can tell. You follow his life with Will Rodman who saved his life and raised him, to his prisonlike ape sanctuary, to freedom. I didn't think it was possible for me to care about a character who doesn't say a word of english and is just a chimp, but I did. I was thinking poor Caesar, or hell yeah kick his ass! The story is a character piece that is very well done and in the end makes you so excited for the sequel you can't hold in the throbbing hard on when you hear Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The acting cast is done well enough but the human actors for the most part are throw away. Not saying anyone did a bad job it is just this story focuses on Caesar and the other apes to the point where you're like "why are we seeing his story again?". Andy Serkis is Ceasar which my first thought is who else would be. Now he does mainly the motion capture for him and talk about a guy who dreams about being a ape. Every movie I've seen him in he is doing motion capture for something that moves like some kind of primate. Give this man an Oscar already shit. James Franco is Will he is a young scientist with a sick father, and a hot ass girlfriend. He raises Caesar, an it explains why Caesar doesn't hate humans at all he pities most of them. He is the father figure in this movie and James Franco shows he actually can be a serious actor when he wants to be. David Oyelowo he is Jacobs which is the antagonist of the film. He is a business owner who only cares about profit. Now the guy isn't a bad guy but his actions aren't ape friendly which vilifies him in Caesar's mind. The director is Rupert Wyatt who did an amazing job retelling the Planet of the Apes franchise. Lets just say he didn't Tim Burton it up. He completely got rid of the Tim Burton remake by doing this movie which is praise enough sadly he will not be directing the sequel. I can't tell you what Wyatt has done he doesn't have a huge filmography yet but I see him becoming something big in the foreseeable future. He did a great job on focusing on Caesar instead of the human characters which makes me happy cause until the astronaut thing happens the apes have to be the main focus. In the end this movie is fantastic and has one scene that still brings chills to my spine. I love this movie and I brought The Planet of the Apes back and made it relevant again. This was a great reboot and I cannot wait for the new one coming on the 11th of this month. So grab your guns and shoot some monkeys because they will rule us and I for one don't wanna be some apes dog. Until next time film folks. George Lucas didn't rape my childhood. I just want to make that statement clear, but anyways hey everyone Brandon here again with another review. Don't you worry the old reviews aren't replacing everything else on the site it is just at the moment. I just want to make sure everyone knows which Clone Wars I am going to be talking about. This is the 2008 movie that spawned the TV show, not the 2003 mini series. Now that little worm is outta the way lets discuss "everyone's" favorite Star Wars movie in the franchise. The plot that they would use for a pilot for the TV series is so pathetic it should've been a mid-season episode not a full feature length film. The plot is Jabba the Hutts kid has been kidnapped by the droid army and it is up to the Jedi to get him back safely. Now I don't know about the rest of you guys and girls out there but Star Wars has always been about a great conflict of some kind not just saving some gangsters wormling. Seriously all the really good Star Wars stories are this big conflicts that affect many lives. Now I know what you're thinking, "Well Brandon in the movie they say the Hutts control the Outer Rim and they need to help them to be able to move their troops." I say to you no they don't, all they need to do is be, "Hey we have a army of Clones if you don't want us to shut you down let us through." But I digress; the movie could've just focused on a epic battle or a new Sith, or how much moisture farmers fucking make I don't care just not Jedi babysitting service. Lets not forget how this movie is supposed to set up for a TV show so the plot ends with no real resolution and no beaten antagonist. Literally nothing happened and it bugged the shit out of me. The animation isn't terrible, nor is it pixar quality. I do agree they make them look a lot more like toys than ever before, but George loves them toy sales so can you blame him. One of the saving graces to this movie is the battles. Now the battle have no real parel in them for any speaking characters but they are fun to watch. It is nice to see some battles take place in the Clone Wars timeline and the death toll is pretty damn big, which I can appreciate. The voice acting overall is pretty damn good. Matt Lanter voices Anakin and he sounds way less whiny than Hayden Christensen. Matt has been is some bad movies but he is for the most part a voice acting veteran in kids TV. James Arnold Taylor voices Obi-wan and he is amazing at that. The guy damn near sounds like Ewan Mcgregor I had to look it up to see if it was him or not. This guy has voice acted in so many things it's not even funny. He is a BAMF in the voice acting business look his IMDB up and see if he voiced something you liked. Last is Ashley Eckstein who voices Ahsoka; Anakin's new apprentice. I don't blame her for her character being annoying; I blame the writers. She is supposed to be this spunky kid for a younger audience, and that is the worst thing to make a Jedi. Padawan or not no one who has trained their whole life to be a Jedi acts like a bratty teen. Isn't that the whole part of the discipline, before becoming a Padawan? Her character is the worst in this movie and brings it down a whole score in the rating. In the end this is probably my least favorite Star Wars movie to have had ever come out. They should've picked a better overall plot and made the Ahsoka character less punchable. I cannot recommend anyone watch this even on Netflix. Watch the show it is much, much better. I give this a 2/5 it has few redeeming qualities but not enough for a passing score. Let the force guide you my fellow moviegoers to a better film. The review train is moving and Brandon is back to talk about the Alien "prequel" known as Prometheus. Just to make sure you all understand I don't count this as any prequel, it has little to nothing to do with the original film besides the fact they just put the names of the things they mention in the original film. Anyways enough of the pre-ramble review lets jump in this black goo and see what happens. Prometheus suffers from something that a lot of prequel stories suffer from; trying to reference the original film too often. This movie is a bit more subtle with it than say the Star Wars prequels were but it still gets to the point to where it gets a little annoying. An example of what I am talking about is the whole android being all homicidal for NO REASON except the fact the one in the original was. I won't say what he does but it is very left field and never explained. In this movie the plot is about these group of scientist finding our creator, which was apparently a group of white as fuck aliens. This movie could've been our new hit that everyone would be clamoring for more but I think the biggest issue they face is lack of explanation. They don't explain why David turns evil, or what the black goo really is, or the ending scene which just makes everyone scratch their head and think "but why?". A lot of the characters in this movie are like in most horror sci-fi movies they are just there to be killed off. The main character Elizabeth Shaw (who resembles Sigourney Weaver) is rather bland and I have a hard time connecting with her. I do feel sorry for this character halfway through the second act of the film, but that's only because of the circumstances she is put through. If they just explained more and made a choice between being a spiritual prequel and being a straight up prequel this plot would've been a masterpiece instead of just a good story. Ridley Scott comes back to direct this movie and he does a great job with what he does. I don't blame him for the script issues I blame the two writers for that. Ridley does this amazing thing where he makes the planet barren and seem so foreign that it seems creepy and ominous before anything bad even happens. It is also to this day one of the most beautiful movies I've seen in a long time. He also brings the gore in this movie ten fold to the point to where even someone who is desensitised to movie violence like me would cringe. The creature choice while not explained looks very creepy and damn near real. The acting is done by some very decent actors I'll name the ones that stuck out otherwise we will be here all day. Noomi Rapace she is our new female damsel turned badass in this movie. Noomi has been in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series (non-American remake) and this is her first big American movie role. She didn't blow my socks off in any fashion but she got the point across. Michael Fassbender is David who is a android. He knocks it out of the park with this role. I honestly could see an entire movie from his point of view, I just wish they dug into his character more just to explain his actions a bit better. Last actor I will mention is Charlize Theron who is Meredith Vickers. She plays cold hearted bitch so well that you just want to hate fuck her. (Yeah she is hot give me a break) The rest of the acting cast is great like Idris Elba and Guy Pearce they fill their roles nice. At the end this movie is still a fun movie with an actual sequel in pre-production. I had a fun time watching just think they could've cleared some things up is all. I don't completely understand the hate to this movie but I do see its flaws. I give this a 3.5/5 it is a fun movie to check out. You can find it dirt cheap so I'd say buy it on blu ray for the amazing visuals. Until next time you face huggers. |
