Mr. Scott set a course for a movie to make Star Trek for a broad audience and not just for trekkies. Hello fellow movie people Brandon is here to talk about the Star Trek reboot. I'm not going to make any friends by saying this, but I've never watched the show. Not a day in my life but I dug the ever living shit out of this movie. Lets dig into this action packed sci-fi adventure. For those of you who may not know this movie is an alternate timeline. I understand if you never watched the show like me, that bit of info doesn't mean a damn thing and if you did watch it, well, you already knew so that was probably a waste of space. Anyways, the movie shows substantially the origins of the crew. While some are from birth or childhood like Kirk and Spock, others are just how they get to be on the Enterprise. The movie is about the most pissed off alien in the world who wants to destroy the Federation because of shit that happens in the future. It is up to the young and inexperienced Enterprise crew to take out these overpowered miners. Yeah they are miners with the firepower of a warship but we'll gloss over that. And if you love seeing Kirk get his ass kicked over and over, this is the movie for you. The story is exciting with twist and turns, and even some of those emotions moments. It is a movie to hook non-Star Trek fans into fans of at least these movies. The cast in my opinion is well done. Chris Pine is Captain Kirk, and he fits that role perfectly. I will say who would've guessed the crazy red neck from Smokin Aces would've been a great pick to play the captain of the Enterprise. Zachary Quinto is the pointy eared bastard Spock. Talk about acting; the guy takes all emotion out of his lines and yet still delivers them perfectly. I only know him from Heroes and I've never watched that so besides this role I've never seen him play anyone else. The antagonist or senior holds a grudge is Eric Bana who plays Nero. I will say this is the most I've seen Eric Bana emote and it is a nice change from say his usual quite badass role. I like Eric Bana, but I think I like pissed of bald Eric Bana more. My problem I had with his character is he hardly does anything that makes me want him to lose. Sure he kills thousands of people, but he just sits in a damn chair most of the movie. It is hard to hate a guy who sits on his ass the whole time. J.J. Abrams is the director of this fine film. When I see this and know he is directing the newest Star Wars I think that he can actually do it. If he can make Star Trek into a great story to those who normally wouldn't give a crap then Star Wars should be a breeze. I will say the same thing everyone else has said before though. CUT BACK ON THE LENSE FLARES. I feel like I should be wearing sunglasses through most of this film it is so damn bright. In the end this movie spawned a series that I can't get enough of. The sequel was even better than this one which is saying something. I personally can't wait to see where this reboot series goes in the future. I give this a solid 4/5. Until next time Trekkies uhh what ever Spock usually says when he leaves.
