Alright, so I was rather harsh on Halo Combat Evolved with Part 1, but with Part 2 being Halo 2 I see myself being a helluva lot more into the game. I mean Halo 2 is the all father of the Halo series this is the one that introduced the online and made the Covident not just these monsters to shoot. Before I forget shalome B-rod here to review Halo 2 Anniversary on the Master Chief Collection. I was so excited to see this game get a HD remake because I played so much Halo 2 back in the day my disc was starting to get worn out. I shall tell you if this holds up or not.
The game has a kinda short campaign. I was able to finish this in a weekend, but it is a vast, vast improvement from Halo Combat Evolved. I mean they actually have a antagonist, give the Covident a story to see how their world works, and have more heroes that isn't just Master Chief. It is actually funny with the addition of the Arbitor in this game and Sergeant Johnson who is the comic relief badass; Master Chief gets very overshadowed as a character. He is a boring mother fucker to say the least. The story is a ton of fun, and in my opinion still one of the best in the Halo series. It has this wonderful clifhanger at the end that makes me so disappointed on how Halo 3 starts to be honest. The game looks gorgeious; especially in the cutscenes. 343 out did themselves with this game, these cutscenes look as good if not better than current Blizzard cutscenes. You can tell they put a lot of time into this game to pretty it up for the Xbox One and my hat goes off to them. Of course you can look at a prettier version of the original game by pressing the two box button. I seriously have no idea what to call those things anymore. The game sounds similiar with minor changes. The one change I didn't like was in a level towards the end they had this kickass Breaking Benjimine song that sounded like a true action movie. I remember feeling like an action hero killing alien fools while this kickass guitar rift was on in the background. Now they have this less exciting, louder guitar in the background that doesn't make my heart pound like a ferious viking. The gameplay is what all Halo games today feel like. Unlike Combat Evolve this doesn't feel dated and they mix up the objectives, and enemy types enough that it doesn't feel repetative. The addition of boss fights is what drove me to enjoy this game more. I never understood why the Halo franchise abdanon the boss fights I thought they were a lot of fun. The Tarturus fight was esspiecally fun because he is slaughtering these elites, and it made me feel like he was a true force to be reconned with. Now I will say this game pissed me the fuck off with its checkpointing. The checkpoints will say they saved, but it's a lying bastard. I had to restart this same flood gandalut thing like four times. I don't know about the rest of you but restarting whole objectives is just a frigging annoance. Otherwise the game isn't that long but with the return of the Halo 2 multiplayer, I can imgaine hours of entertainment. The muliplayer is where new fans of Halo and older ones like myself can battle it out. While the new fans cry in the fact that Halo Reach isn't apart of the package, the old fans can say how good they were on the Xbox and call everyone newbs for using the sword. In the end I had a lot of fun, and had some small nostalgia for this game. It is the whole reason to get the Master Chief Collection because it is the only one they seemed to have put some effort into it. If you were a fan of Halo 2 and don't currently own this definiently get the collection to play the remastered Halo 2. I give this a 4/5, sadly the game has little replay value outside of cooperative, but the online will keep you entertained for a few months or in some cases years. I of course leave with a question. Who all thinks boss fights should be returned to the Halo series?

Hello everyone B-rod is back with a slightly older review, but it what I have. Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls the console version. I do know why they call these games Diablo, and it is not because Diablo is the main villain. It is because these games are so fucking addictive it is unreal. I never played Diablo 1 or 2, I played 3 on the Xbox 360 and then again when it was originally re-released on the PS4. I must say replaying through this game again is just like when you watch your favorite movie again it; you may know it beat for beat, but it is still an experience you continue to enjoy.
The story of Diablo 3 is all about the Black Soul Stone, and defeating the last of hells lords. You play as one of six different classes, but ultimately everyone just ends up calling you Nephilim. The story is serviceable it isn't bad, but this isn't the next Lord of the Rings if you know what I mean. For those who've played it time and time again tend to skip all the dialog. It is fully voice acted and has these story drawings inbetween anytime you did something crucial; mostly going through the acts. First timers to this game I would recommend actually listening to the story and diving into it because it is worth at least that. The sound in this game is a lot of background noise honestly. It has the sound effects you'd expect, but no real music to it outside of the CGI cutscenes. The voice acting is anywhere from bad to just barely getting the point across. I played as the Crusader who was a new addition to the game on the PS4, and he sounded like he was reading his lines, not the voice acting you'd expect. The game looks good on the PS4, but if you own this on a previous console it isn't a vast enough improvement to go out and grab a new copy. The gameplay is a dungeon crawler. What I notice throws some gamers off is the top down perspective, if you are one of those people who have seen gameplay and thought that maybe it wasn't for you. Play it. Seriously go out rent, borrow, steal I don't care just get your hands on it because it is damn near instantaneously addictive. The game keeps you playing mainly on the leveling up and the promise of bigger and better loot. The enemies don't serve much of a serious threat for the most part. This is a lot like playing the lottery. Most of the time you will get either crap or maybe something slightly better, but that one time that you get a legendary item than it sets off those endorphins that make you never want to stop. The game is long and with infinite replay value. I've beaten the game on two of the 12 difficulty settings. Each setting doesn't just make the game harder but it gives you better and better loot. The level max is 70 but it doesn't stop there with the paragon levels you can continue to make your character into a unstoppable killing machine. Then you add the Reaper of Souls on this and you get one helluva game experience. It is safe to say Diablo has something that few games are able to muster. I play it for so long my eyes turn bloodshot and I realize that I was dehydrated. Overall while the story is serviceable, and the sound is just noise, the graphics being good for what it is (excluding Blizzard Cutscenes). The gameplay is why people love the Diablo series and if you are new to Diablo 3 or just want to play it again this remastered game will not steer you wrong. I give this a 4.5/5. I leave you fair barbarians with a question. Should Blizzard port, or make more of their games for consoles as well or just stick with PC? A list of things that are an American pastime are, overeating, caring about celebrities home life, and killing Nazis. Well one of those things is really in left field but regardless aloha everyone B-rod is here again to talk about Wolfenstein Old Blood. This is a standalone DLC for The New Order that acts as a prequel. So yes we are back in WW2 and I've never been happier to paint it in blood.
The story is you are back as BJ Blazkowicz or as some may know him as America Bloodman, and you are infiltrating castle Wolfenstein. Your mission is to find and steal this folder that tells you where the evil General Deathshead is located at. For those of you that have played The New Order that is the first mission. The story is great it has suspenseful moments that have me on the edge of my seat like I am watching Game of Thrones. The real crazy thing is that BJ is a boring fucking character, but the Nazis are the ones with interesting backstory and dialog that just makes you want to stab them in the face with a rusty pipe. I was thinking the story was going to focus on this character you save in a tavern, but they said "fuck that we need more Nazi killing" and threw her to the side; which to that I say thank you. The story takes a helluva turn in the third act, and for those of you that know what I am talking about I must say I want more games to surprise me like this did. The story isn't as deep as New Order was, but it was still a fun experience I would like to visit in the future. The game of course looks beautiful, they just used the same engine they used with The New Order so of course it'd look good. The voice acting and sounds are all fantastic as well I really can't think of anything wrong in the sound and graphic department. The gameplay is amazing, seriously if you haven't played the new Wolfenstein series you need to jump on it. My biggest complaint is in the very beginning when you are sneaking around the castle. You have to sneak around turning off generators, and if you get seen you are basically fucked. It is so tedious I was just pissed off the entire time I was playing that part. Some may argue it provided with some new gameplay to the run and gun shooting. I say with a four hour story there is no need for annoying stealth missions. Those of you that missed New Order the gameplay is amazing it mixes modern day shooters with classic Id Wolfenstein. Which means no regenerating health and you must pick up bullets and armour as you see them. The game on normal is very challenging it doesn't fuck around. I will say it has no replay value that drives me nuts. All you can do is try to play on a harder difficulty and find the rest of the collectables. Overall this series is fast becoming my favorite FPS games on the market, and it actually has me excited for Doom 4. I will say $17 for a four hour story seems a bit pricey for those on a budget. While the story was amazing it had little replay value outside of collecting and going through the story again it doesn't strike much of a bargain. I give this a strong 4/5 this is a great DLC that didn't seem tacked on at all. I leave with a question. What else can they do to make killing Nazis interesting? |
