X-men The Last Stand
X-men The Last Stand is one of those movies that follows a an amazing predecessor and drops the ball hard. The movie isn't dog shit like Wolverine Origins where you get mad just watching it but it has some pretty damn big flaws. Flaws such as poor dialog, misuse of characters, and a climax that is just meh at best. Most people will agree with me some may disagree on both spectrums of the argument. The overall story isn't bad it is about this cure that can take away mutant abilities and make them human. Of course that pisses Magneto off and he raises a army to destroy the cure, and of course the X-men are there to try and keep war between the races. That whole plot is fine, it is the Phoenix plot of Jean Grey coming back to be a character that no one gives a shit about. I think if they would've been building it up in at least, at least the second film then it would've been better. Instead they try and explain everything about Jean in one scene in the movie. It just doesn't work, there are some good things about this movie. The lesser known X-men get some screen time, we see Colossus in action and Ice man finally does something. We get to see the first appearance of Beast, and Shadowcat has a much bigger performance in this film. They do kill off some key characters but only one has any feeling or meaning to it. One of the big main characters gets killed off screen and honestly no one seems to care. Overall it is a movie that doesn't seem to know where it is going. I can't hate this movie, but also can't recommend to anyone especially the hardcore X-men fans. I give this a 2 out of 5.
