THE LORD OF THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING - WRITTEN REVIEW
What is up everyone it is your ole pal Brandon here with a review of another one of my favorite my movies, The Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring. Now the version I really like is the extended version because theextra or different scenes they have in this version is far superior in my opinion than the theatrical version. How many different scenes or extra ones I honestly can’t tell you but it is enough to make a Lord of the Rings nerd like me very happy.
For the two of you that haven’t seen this movie I want to say a couple of things. First of all I am sorry I don’t know where you’ve been but instead of ridiculing you or anything of that sort I shall help you. I want to suggest you read the book, it is a hell of a read and if you are in to fantasy in the slightest then this is a must have book in your collection. After you
finish the book then rent or buy this movie so you may bask in the truly great interpretation Peter Jackson has done. This movie is about a quest to go destroy a evil ring. I know that premise sounds lame but believe me this movie is so fucking epic. I will admit it does have a slow start. It starts out with village of Hobbits which happened to be small people with big feet, and the movie says in that for a good half hour. Once they get out of the village the movie picks up by a lot. Honestly in the Lord of the Rings trilogy this movie is my least favorite but that is like choosing between a steak dinner or lobster dinner both great but you like one a little more than the other. This movie is what a true fantasy adventure should be; a group of warriors go on a quest through strange and dangerous lands to destroy the ultimate evil.
Peter Jackson did an amazing job with the story and well a bunch of things but I don’t want to give all the credit to him. The actors all did fantastic even Sean Astin who usually annoys the piss out of me. The performance who I think really knocked it out of the park was Sean Bean. I’ll explain why I liked his performance so much, you basically see this rich boy who has been the beacon of hope for the Gondor and see him fall into temptation. But what makes him truly great at the peak of his fall he rises to full hero at the end and has one of the most iconic scenes in movies in my opinion. The costume design and creature design was amazing. Now they had most of it kind of already done because of the books but the new addition of the Uruk-hai was amazing. The backstory to the new creatures was also just dark and metal. I certainly won’t forget about the scenery that is breathtaking on how good New Zealand looks and how they find these areas that are just so epic.
If I haven’t convinced you to see this movie for the first time or just again at least then I just don’t know. What else can I add except this is an epic fantasy that basically is the ground rules for most fantasy out there. I believe this movie along with all the others are a must have for any DVD collection. I give the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring an A.
