FIGHT CLUB - WRITTEN REVIEW
Welcome to Fight Club the first rule is you read this review, the second rule is that you tell your friends about the Bloody Screen Podcast and the third rule is to let me know your input on Fight Club. Yup it’s Brandon again and I am talking about Fight Club one of my favorite movies out there. If you haven’t seen Fight Club and it hasn’t been spoiled for you all I can say is are you kidding me? Don’t tell anyone you are going to see it and go to a rental video store or rent it off Amazon or however you rent your movies and watch this film. I know usually when people say oh you got to see this film you get that same reaction as me of the “oh how good could it be”. This movie is excellent if not the best thriller I have ever seen.
The story to Fight Club is great because it really starts out simple and just goes so complex it will blow your mind. Edward Norton plays as the Narrator he is never named in the movie nor in the book is this character ever given a name. The Narrator is a fucked up human being, not in the sense that he is crazy guy torturing piglets or anything of that nature but he has some severe emotional problems. The only way he can go to sleep is if he goes to meetings where all the people there are going to die from whatever disease they have. He eventually meets a strange but interesting man named Tyler Durden who is played by Brad Pitt. They become friends and start Fight Club where men can be men they don’t have to be tied down to the norms of society and their pent up aggression can be released. Now I won’t go any further into the plot because I know there are people who haven’t seen this film and I want them to have an untainted viewing of this movie. I first saw the film a couple of years after its release and no one talked about this movie so when I saw it my mouth hit the fucking floor. I felt like an idiot and was just amazed on how I missed some of the basic things. I did read the book this movie is based off of I will say for those of you that have seen this movie I like the ending way more in the book than the movie. The ending in the movie was a bit lackluster and the book had not as a happy of an ending if I might say.
The director of the movie is David Fincher this guy is just one of my favorite thriller directors. A quick list of his movies consist of, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Seven, The Social Network, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This is probably my favorite of his films but the actors also
helped out a ton in this, Edward Norton plays great as more of this clever little meek character who most people would believe would amount to anything.
Brad Pitt is fantastic as a not so mentally stable anarchist who hates the capitalistic America. I actually found myself agreeing with Brad Pitt on some of
his things he was saying what’s funny is that over ten years later the things he hates and loathes only gotten worse in comparison.
Honestly I can go on and on about how much I love this movie but do you people really want to keep reading me stroking a big one while talking about Fight Club? I thought not so I close this review off with this go see after you see it see this again because it is so much fun seeing the little things you missed. For the people who have already seen it what’d you think of the movie you agree with my love or disagree I’d like to know. If you haven’t guessed my rating to this movie I give this a A+ this is a movie I own on Blu Ray and is something I can pop in and watch with some pizza and beer.
